It's a fully featured amp and stompox all in one pedal. The Character Plus Mod Top Liverpool is an incredibly versatile unit in both tones and application. Through its intuitive control interface and dual channel setup you've got the full character and tone-shaping of a vintage amp, with the additional sonic spice of a classic boost effect. And importantly, both the amp channels and effects operate independent from each other, so you can activate the effect on its own, or the amp without the effect.
The "Boost" switch in the centre activates a strong boost effect, helping you stand above a mix with more present sonics, and also increasing the clarity of your top-end frequencies. Tech 21 have carefully balanced the amp and stompbox chemistry to produce sonics that'll sound good in any situation, so if you're after a tone that lies between retro British Invasion sounds and '70s style glam rock, then the Mod Top serves up the sounds you're looking for.
