Ribbon Microphones

Ribbon Microphones or Ribbon Velocity Mics are all naturally bidirectional, giving them a figure-8 polar pattern which allows them to capture sound equally from both sides. They use a thin layer of metal, normally aluminum placed between the poles of the magnet to create the voltage.

At Gear4Music we offer a wide range of Ribbon Microphones. The SubZero SZ-R1 is designed around the classic British Ribbon microphones from the 1950’s. It uses a large 42mm ribbon and gives a warm vintage tone to recordings.
