The Birdkids Bateleur VCO MKII features a discrete, temperature stable, 100 percent analog oscillator that delivers a full bodied, rich, powerful analog sound. Featuring 4 classic waveforms including the sine, triangle, sawtooth, and pulse, plus an additional sub octave output, the Bateleur VCO is ideal for creating chunky, raw bass and lead sounds. Pulse width can also be modulated, extended its sound design capability. The Bateleur VCO features a range switch which transposes pitch by up to 6 octaves, whilst the fine tune can pitch by +/-7 semitones, allowing you to dial in the desired pitch. Additionally, the Bateleur VCO features a glide knob that allows you to adjust the amount of glide between pitches.
The filter offers a fat, classic low-pass filter sound. The filter can also be used as a standalone sine waveform in the self-oscillation setting. The filter tracks 1V/oct, and in self-oscillation mode the resonance peak can be swept across the frequency band using the cutoff dial, thus establishing pitch. Additionally, you can feed the sub output into the filter input and set the cutoff dial to taste to create a thick, round bass sound.
The Bateleur features Thru-Zero FM, which can be used to create bell-like sounds. Switch the FM switch down to initiate Thru-Zero FM. You can then adjust the FM dial to amplify the effect, or switch up to classic linear FM for a different timbre.
