Quality Tonewoods
Despite the VSA500's accessible price, the guitar is constructed with a quality maple body and a mahogany neck with lignum rosa fingerboard. The maple body lends the VSA500 a bright tonality, while the semi-hollow construction enhances sustain and creates an 'open' sound that is highly responsive to your playing dynamics - perfect for blues and vintage rock. The mahogany neck is set into the body for superior resonance, while the double cutaway outline of the VSA500 gives the impression of a much more expensive instrument, featuring a subtle offset design to stand out from the crowd.
Smooth Playability
The VSA500's offset body design enables easier access to the top-frets, so you'll have no problems playing solos right at the top end of the neck. The mahogany neck features a 24.75'' scale length for a "slinky" string feel that enables easy string bends. The 12'' fingerboard radius provides balance across the strings, along with the ability to set up a low string action with no risk of the strings "choking" when you play string bends. This setup is reminiscent of classic dual humbucker guitars and is ideal for players who play both rhythm and lead.
Trev Wilkinson Hardware & Pickups
Like all Vintage guitars, the VSA500 features Trev Wilkinson-designed hardware, built on years of industry experience. The Wilkinson-designed tune-o-matic bridge provides optimal intonation, along with a stable platform for optimal string vibration transfer. The bridge is complemented with Wilkinson-designed machineheads, providing quick and stable tuning.
The VSA500 is loaded with two Wilkinson alnico double-coil humbuckers and wired with a dual volume/tone control arrangement for complete tonal adjustments. The humbuckers feature a vintage-inspired voice, with a low/medium gain output that is perfect for blues and vintage rock tones. The 3-way toggle switch provides a range of sounds to cover the rock and blues genres, from biting bridge-position tones to mellow neck-position sounds. These pickups make the most of the tonal potential from the VSA500's open and resonant semi-hollow body, with a dynamic sound that brings out all the nuances of your playing.
Reviews
Guitarist Magazine gave the VSA500 4.5 out of 5 stars:
" We are constantly surprised by the quality of today’s low-end guitars. Our Vintage sample is exceptional and once again we find ourselves double-checking its price… Hugely credible, shape-shifted thinline semi with good build and power bluesy tones."
