Key Features
The UDO Super 8 is built for synth players, performers and sound designers who want immersive stereo synthesis, detailed control and expressive performance in a focused, portable design. It features two independent analogue-hybrid sound engines, each with its own timbre and dedicated effects chain. This allows for splits, stacks and complex layering all from a single keyboard. With 16-voice polyphony and bitimbral operation, the Super 8 is capable of creating evolving textures, thick pads, intricate sequences or layered performance setups with ease.

The Super 8 allows you to work with two fully independent synthesiser layers at once. Each timbre has its own set of parameters, including a dedicated effects chain, so you can create completely different sounds and assign them across the keyboard. You can also stack the layers to build thicker patches or sequence them for evolving compositions.
This dual-layer approach is ideal for those who want to create multi-textured performances without switching presets or using external gear. From harmonic layering to split setups for bass and lead, the Super 8 gives you the tools to build complex patches with ease.
UDO’s unique binaural design sets the Super 8 apart. In binaural mode, each stereo channel becomes a full synthesiser voice. This means you can adjust the tuning, phase, filter response and amplitude independently for the left and right sides. The result is a wide, three-dimensional sound that can range from subtle stereo movement to deep, immersive soundscapes.
You can create a strong sense of width and placement in the stereo field, all without needing external processing or complicated routing. It is a powerful tool for adding space, detail and character to any sound, from pads and textures to rhythmic sequences and arpeggios.
Designed with live players and hands-on producers in mind, the Super 8 uses a 61-note semi-weighted keyboard with polyphonic aftertouch. This feature allows individual notes to respond to pressure, opening up expressive possibilities such as filter sweeps, vibrato or modulation on a per-note basis.
You also get left-hand performance controls for further expression, along with a control panel that puts every major function within immediate reach. There is no need to scroll through deep menus or memorise shortcuts. The interface encourages real-time sound shaping and quick adjustments, making it ideal for performance and spontaneous creation. It is a synthesiser that responds to how you play, not just what you play.
At the core of the Super 8 are two FPGA-powered digital oscillators. These high-resolution sound sources provide clean, alias-free tones that serve as the foundation for a wide range of synthesis techniques. Each oscillator can be shaped using tools like wave morphing, ring modulation, cross modulation and bi-directional sync, giving you the ability to craft both traditional and experimental sounds.
After the oscillator stage, the signal moves through a fully analog signal path, including filters and amplification, which adds warmth and character often associated with classic polysynths. This combination of digital control and analog voicing delivers sound that is both flexible and full of depth. You get the accuracy needed for modern production along with the musicality of vintage hardware.
The Super 8 is designed to offer the power of UDO’s larger instruments in a format that suits smaller studios, touring rigs and streamlined setups. It takes cues from both the Super 6 and the flagship Super Gemini, combining dual voice architecture and FPGA technology with a simplified control layout and reduced footprint. The result is an instrument that feels solid and premium, yet remains practical for daily use.
With 128 performance slots, 256 patch locations, 32 user-loadable waveforms and 16 sequence slots, it offers deep storage and recall options for both studio and stage use. Everything about the Super 8 has been developed with usability in mind, encouraging users to explore sound without distraction or unnecessary complexity.
