The now-defunct Gauss Speaker Company were revered for their unique driver designs, cementing their reputation in the audio world from the 60s all the way to the 90s. Breathing new life into their distinctive design, Avantone brings the essence of Gauss’ loudspeakers back to life. It combines elements of vintage and modern-day studio monitors, providing the snap old vintage speakers with the extended frequency response and bandwidth of modern monitors. The resulting sound is powerful and refined with a highly accurate mid-range response and precise imaging.

Custom high-fidelity GAU-AMT driver

Developed especially for this studio monitor, Avantone has custom designed a unique tweeter based on the innovative drivers found in retro Gauss loudspeakers. It provides impressive stereo imagining whilst minimising vertical throw for improved audio performance and minimal unwanted acoustic reflections. At the core of the monitor is a 65mm polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film folded membrane which provides the incredible transient response the Gauss7s provide. The unique construction results in an ultra-low resonant design with a low crossover point.

Classic white cone woofer

Taking inspiration from the AV-10 MLF, the Gauss 7s features a white cone woofer constructed from a special blend of wood pulp and glass fibre. The result is a super hard snap and punchiness to the low-end response and an ultra-wide bandwidth. It also employs a rear-firing bass port for more controlled bass response, without exaggerating the low-end.

Advanced acoustic tuning

The rear of the monitors features easy-to-use acoustic tuning controls which allows you to tailor the sound of the monitors to whatever space you’re working in. You can tweak the precise controls to suit your needs or us the three-position High Trim switch to troubleshoot room issues. The rear panel also offers both XLR and TRS ¼-inch inputs as well as built-in Gain control.
