The Pittsburgh Modular Analog Replicator is a multi-purpose delay effects module in the Eurorack format. The Analog Replicator is ideal for a range of applications, from adding standard delays to modular synths, to utilising chorus and reverb effects. The core of the module features a pair of 4,096 stage BBD chips. Each of the chips features a single capacitor, with both chips creating a chain of 8,192 capacitors. The BBD chips help to process your signals, passing them from capacitor to capacitor, once ever clock step. Combined with the wide range of modulation control, you can achieve everything from simple clean reverbs, to darker delays and chorus-type effects. The proprietary signal processing circuit and the unique clock source results in a flexible and versatile delay unit.
The in-depth modulation of the Replicator Module allows you to achieve a range of delay-based effects. The dual BBD chips can be used in unison or on their own, resulting in varying effects. Using both of the chips, significantly improves the available delay time, doubling it for added flexibility. Using a single BBD is ideal for creating reverb and chorus effect, allowing you to create short delays, which can be modulated to mimic classic reverb-type effects. The Short/Long switch is incorporated for a quick and easy way to adjust the range of the delay. The Short mode results in bright and clean analog delays, while the long mode provides a darker more moodier vibe.
The wide range of patch points and in-depth controls allow you to achieve everything from simple delays, to mimicking Chorus and Reverb effects. Setting the two-position switch to use a single BBD chip and the Short mode, you can adjust the Time to generate short delays while adding a dash of Feedback results in analog reverb effect. You can incorporate modulation using the Time CV input a variety of chorus-type effects. As well as including a Mix CV there is also a time CV and Feedback CV, as well as a Delay and Mix output.
