A reverb like no other
SpaceBlender is designed to completely reshape how sound lives in space. Its flexible architecture lets you stretch reverb time from a crisp 100 milliseconds to a full minute, offering deep control over how your sound expands, decays, and evolves. In Sync mode, SpaceBlender aligns perfectly with your track’s tempo, giving you rhythmic control over ambient loops, frozen reverb tails, or tightly timed gated effects. This is ideal for producers working in ambient, electronic, or cinematic genres who want reverb to move with the music rather than sit passively in the mix.
You also get hands-on control over tone and feel. The Color knob sets the overall tonal curve of the reverb. Dial it down for darker, degraded textures or push it up to let the brightness grow over time. Texture control shifts the effect between dense, lush spaces and scattered, sparse trails, helping you shape the emotional impact of the sound. Meanwhile, the Mod setting brings movement into the effect itself. At low values, your reverb remains static and clear; increase the Mod and it starts to swirl with smooth, liquid modulation. Engage the Freeze function and you create evolving ambient loops that self-feed and degrade naturally, opening the door to rich, ambient drones and atmospheric pads that feel alive and constantly shifting.
Play Space
SpaceBlender’s visual interface is an active part of the creative process. The Visualizer shows the real-time shape and behaviour of your reverb, helping you see how your settings are affecting the tail, density, and timing of the sound. This becomes especially helpful with long or complex reverb settings where the evolution of the effect isn’t always immediately obvious by ear.
Back to Earth
While SpaceBlender excels at the weird and wonderful, it’s just as useful in everyday music production. If you’re mixing a pop track, producing synth-heavy beats, or editing dialogue for film, SpaceBlender gives you reliable ways to add space and clarity. A touch of it on a vocal can create a subtle halo of reverb that adds warmth and presence. On guitars and synths, it helps lift the sound out of the mix and give it its own pocket of depth. Even drums benefit from tight gated verbs that sharpen the groove, to long swells that stretch out transitions.
Its parameter controls are designed for real-world use, offering quick access to familiar shaping tools, but with enough range to go off the deep end when needed. The core algorithms are precise and responsive, so you won’t waste time chasing the right sound. Whether you're crafting a dense ambient bed or just trying to glue some elements together in a pop mix, SpaceBlender proves its versatility track after track.
Algorithmic Innovation
At the heart of SpaceBlender is a deep commitment to algorithmic design. SoundToys founder Ken Bogdanowicz and sound designer Andrew Schlesinger were key contributors to the original Black Hole effect in the Eventide DSP4000. That same level of detail and innovation flows into SpaceBlender, resulting in an effect that’s far more than a reverb, it’s a modular space-shaping tool with musical intuition built in.
The plugin also pays homage to classic hardware and rare sound devices. You’ll hear echoes of the Ursa Major Space Station’s grainy texture, the lush digital depth of the Lexicon 224, and even the dense sonic swarms reminiscent of the Swarmatron synthesizer.
